How to cope with stress

What is stress? Stress is a physical, mental or emotional factor that causes our bodily or mental tension. Stress can be external. It can happen from the environment, psychological or social situations. It can also happen because of internal illness or from a medical procedure.
Stress can affect your  physical and mental health including your behavior. Our body responds to stress by producing chemicals  and hormones to help us rise to the challenge. As a result, our heart rate will increases while brain will works faster. This response is basic and it helps our ancestor from falling victim to hungry predators. But bear in mind that too much stress can have harmful effects. I know that it is impossible to completely eliminate stress from your life, but we can learn to control it and eventually figure out a game plan.

Straight to the point, now I want to share some tips about how to cope with stress. From our knowledge, the pressure comes when our environment is messy and not calm. So, from this situation, we must control our emotion. It is because, the main place that the stress will attack is emotion. So that, the first tips you should do is get breathing deeply and then smile. Take a 5-minute break and focus on your breathing. Sit up straight, eyes closed, with a hand on your belly. Slowly inhale through your nose, feeling the breath start in your abdomen and work its way to the top of your head. Reverse the process as you exhale through your mouth. Furthermore, you should clear your mind. Do these three things at once. So from that, you will find deep peace.

Next, in order to cope with stress, you need to exercise a lot. Exercising is the best ways to reduce stress and improve your overall quality of life. For example, you can walk or do whatever exercise that you feel comfortable with. It does not matter what kind of exercise is, as long as your body produce sweat. Try to concentrate during exercise. Focus your mind to execute the exercise properly and try to not get distrected. Moreover, avoid concern yourself with your family or work while you are working out. By doing so, you will feel relaxed and stay in fit.

Alright, we go to the next point. As a human, it is important for us to make time for ourselves. Some people don't consider us as their priorities regardless how important they are in our life. There will come a time where we need to neglect them for a while. Take a chance by pampering ourselves with our hobbies or do things that make you happy. Cultivate self love in our life so we don't waste our time to please everyone. Due to personal reason, bear in mind that happiness relay on our action and our mindset. Beside that, Share your feelings is also one of the best tips. Make  conversation with a friend lets you know that you are not the only one having a bad day, caring for a sick child or working in a busy office. Stay in touch with friends and family. Ask them how they have dealt with a similar situation that may be “stressing you out.” Let them provide love, support and guidance. Don’t try to cope alone.

As children, we used to laugh hundreds of times a day, but as adults, life tends to be more serious and laughter more infrequent. Laughter is the best medicine. It can connect more people and draws people together in ways that trigger healthy physical and emotional changes in the body. There are  benefits of laughter that we can gain.  One of the benefits is to help us mentally healthy. This can ensure us to stay positive throughout the day. At the same time, we can find courage cand strength to seem for new sources of meaningful life and hope even in the most difficult of times.

We go to the next tips, be flexible! If you find you’re meeting constant opposition in either your personal or professional life, rethink your position or strategy. Arguing only intensifies stressful feelings. Make allowances for other’s opinions and be prepared to compromise. If you are willing to be accommodating, others may meet you halfway. Not only will you reduce your stress, you may find better solutions to your problems. Furtheremore, make improvement for yourself if you the type of person who can not accept critism from others. Go easy with criticism. You may expect too much of yourself and others. Try not to feel frustrated, disappointed or even “trapped” when another person does not measure up. The “other person” may be a coworker, spouse, or child whose behavior you are trying to change or don’t agree with. Avoid criticisms about character, such as “You’re so stubborn,” and try providing constructive suggestions for how someone might do something differently.

Other then that, Be thankful and seize the day. Keep a gratitude journal or several (one by your bed, one in your purse, and one at work) to help you remember all the things that are good in your life. “Being grateful for your blessings cancels out negative thoughts and worries,” says Joni Emmerling, a wellness coach in Greenville, NC.Use these journals to savor good experiences like a child’s smile, a sunshine-filled day, and good health. Don’t forget to celebrate accomplishments like mastering a new task at work or a new hobby. When you start feeling stressed, spend a few minutes looking through your notes to remind yourself what really matters.

According to (Jane Colliwood, 2018) “Listening to music can have a tremendously relaxing effect on our minds and bodies, especially slow, quiet classical music. This type of music can have a beneficial effect on our physiological functions, slowing the pulse and heart rate, lowering blood pressure, and decreasing the levels of stress hormones. Music, in short, can act as a powerful stress management tool in our lives”. What can I say is listen to the music is one of the nice tip. Its is because, if we are listening the music that have a monotonuse and quiet classical music tune, I believe we can get a deep peace. One thing we should know about this music. Music have a one power. Someone who loves to listen music will feel happy and cheerful all the time whether at work or alone. Why? There is no need to dispute it. That’s one of the strengths of the song. Everyone who loves to hear the song will the same the same way. So that, listen to a song if you feel stressed.

In a nutshell, we must take a good care of our health especially our mental. That’s all.
